Welcome to Mr. Jiles & Ms. Lee Child Development/ Pre-K Class
Greetings and Welcome Back! Welcome to the 2018-2019 school year. My name is Mr. Jiles and I am a Child Development/Pre-K Teacher. This will be my second year teaching Pre-K and my 7th year in the classroom. I have a attended and graduated from the Technical College of the Low Country, Cathedral Bible College and have received a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education from Grand Canyon University. In March of 2018, I have been honored to receive Teacher of the Month and in May of 2018 I have been honored to be chosen for RES Rookie Teacher of the year 2018. I am a certified licensed teacher in both South Carolina and North Carolina. My assistant Ms. Lee and I, look forward to teaching your child, helping them grow academically and becoming the best that they can be. Nothing is impossible. We are expecting great things this school year!

Our Theme for this month- "Awesome Animals":
This month for the month of January our theme is "Awesome Animals". Students will learn about animals. Farm, zoo, ocean animals, insects, and habitats. Students will also continue to write their name, identify numbers 0-30, count, create and make patterns, learn the letters of the alphabet, letter sounds, digraphs (2 letters that make 1 sound: th, sh, ch and qu, shapes, colors and much more. Please continue to practice these skills at home with your child.
Our new curriculum- Big Day
This year CD/Pre-K will be implementing a new curriculum call Big Day. Big Day is a high quality, comprehensive joyful early education program. It encourages students to learn, play and engage in the world around them. Daily instructional activities for Pre-K is organized in 3 ways:
1. Big Experiences: Everyday in Pre-k is a Big experience: circle time or story time.
2. Small group instruction (literacy, writing, math, social studies, science)
3. Learning Centers
Big Day also integrates: social and emotional development, art, health, physical development, informational texts, poetry, and songs. When your in Pre-K everyday is a Big Day!
*Please remember to pack your child a healthy snack everyday for our class snack time. Also send in a change of clothes and transportation change notes if there are any changes in transportation.
