Mrs. Brown's Bio

Hello! My name is Mrs. Christie Brown and I am honored to be a First grade teacher this year!

This is going to be my eighth year here at Ridgeland Elementary School and my eighteenth year teaching! I taught for seven years in Beaufort county schools (4/5 grades, kindergarten and 4th grade) and two and half years in the Georgia Pre-K program in Powder Springs, GA before finding my way back to South Carolina. I began teaching at RES in January 2017 in Child Development. This is my fourth year teaching first grade.

In 1998, I graduated from the University of South Carolina - Aiken with a Bachelors in Early Childhood Education. I was able to get my certification in Early Childhood as well as Elementary Education. In 2004, I graduated from Lesley University with a Masters in Educational Technology. In 2015, I graduated with my second Masters, this time in Early Childhood Education. I am happy to say that in January 2022, I began the journey through the LETRS program. In this program, the teachers at Ridgeland Elementary are learning the best, most successful ways to teach reading to students.

I actually grew up not too far from Ridgeland: Beaufort and St Helena. Four of my children were born, like me, in Beaufort, SC at Beaufort Memorial Hospital. My husband, a retired solider, and I have a beautiful blended family of six: four boys and two girls. The older four are adults now and our two kids (Annie and Zack) that we had together are teenagers! Our granddaughter graced us with her presence in March 2018 and keeps us on our toes. We also have five fur babies: Riley, Cupcake, Starbuck, Honey and Odin.
