About Me...

Hello! I am so excited to be a part of the Ridgeland Elementary School family! Previously, I taught 1st and 2nd grade math and science at a STEM school in Ohio, where I am from, and before that, I taught at Shawnee State University's lab preschool. In my time as a teacher, I've worked with students from as young as 17 months up to 9 years old. My experience helps me to understand the developmental levels of young children in order to provide them meaningful and developmentally appropriate learning opportunities. Prior to becoming a teacher, I spent 11 years in the field of social work, which allows me to understand and be supportive of the challenges that my students and their families can sometimes face.
My husband, David, and I have two grown children. Alex, our son, is currently in Charleston, SC serving in the Air Force, and Leen, our daughter, is attending law school at the University of Kentucky. We have 2 rescue dogs, Chocolate and Chip, and a cat named Cookie. We also have 2 parrots, Tyler and Neff. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, crafting, swimming, and watching Netflix. My favorite food is pizza and my favorite snack is the popcorn you get at the movie theater. I love being in South Carolina and I'm so happy to be a part of your school! I'm looking forward to getting to know my students and welcoming them into our classroom family. It's going to be a fabulous year!
