Jaya Wilkin holds a Master’s degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Biola University in California, and a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Roberts Wesleyan College (Rochester NY). Born in Toronto, Canada and raised with an East Indian heritage, she grew up surrounded by a colorful kaleidoscope of flavors, music, language and culture. She began her teaching career at the base of Mount Fuji in Japan and has served as director of a language program for middle and high school students in Boston, Massachusetts and Savannah State University. She continues to teach students from around the world and across the United States. As a wife of a naval officer and mother of two daughters, it seems impossible she still has time for her favorite things: writing poetry, playing her blue guitar, reading engaging novels, Bollywood dancing and leading an International couples group. Her and her family enjoy going to the beach near their home in the Hilton head area.
